The Night before Christmas...
By Amelia aged 9
Chelmsford

The night was a dark one and bad one for sleeping
For old house of aunty was quite fond of creaking
And all of us sat there in bedroom were counting
The webs of the spiders that ceiling was sprouting

The auntie that lived there wore dress that was quite like
It once had a Zebra tight tucked up on inside
And laughing she'd told us of ghosts without heads
That search long for lost bits at night under beds

Now as we were listening to windy night howling
With one ear on hallway for headless thing prowling
We heard a strange bump noise from room over landing
Where loft hatch was open and ladders were standing

We looked up in amazement as Santa appeared
His coat was all sooty, he had twigs in his beard
"Thank goodness you've saved me!" we heard Santa say
"I've had a bit of trouble and fell off my sleigh."

The reindeer were squabbling, they started to fight
They'd been fussing and moaning all through the night
Dasher wanted to run off to lie in the sun

Prancer was hoping to go for a run

Donner decided to play a great trick
Comet ate mince pies until he felt sick
Vixen was watching the X Factor show
Blitzen dropped presents on his sore toe

Dancer was dancing to Jedward's new tune
Cupid was shopping-he said 'I'll be back soon....'
So just me and Rudolph were left with the task
Of delivering presents to the children who asked

"But the world is so big and we are just small
So we couldn't possibly have done it all
That's why we've landed up here on your roof
We need your help, and that is the truth."

Well, what could we say to help Santa Claus?
We raced to the roof quick, to help him of course
But oh! What disaster was waiting for us
The pair had gone off on the number three bus

No Rudolph? No Santa? And now we were stuck
On the rooftop at Christmas, what terrible luck.
Meanwhile, as you open your presents today
Cheer Santa and Rudolph 'cos they saved the day.....

HIP HIP HOORAY!!

Was it a Hullabaloo?
By Chelsea

A creature with sharp claws, big ears and ginger hairs!
I was terrified
His gigantic feet was .... (BANG)(BANG) banging!
I thought the roof would full down

The noise frightened me, there was a roar, but it sounded like a cow (moo)
There it is again it sounded like a pig (oink)
I heard an oink moo oink moo all night long.
I cuddled up to my blanket ready to close my eyes when the floorboards creaked. (My auntie's poor the floorboards are garbage)

The light outside turned on and the floorboards creaked
The moo oink sounded and my door swung open slyly.

I shot up from the top bunk bed, hitting the lampshade with my head
And looked at the door
I heard the creature's big feet banging
I looked

I shivered
I screamed
There in front of me stands a... nothing!
Was it a ghost like aunt Sue had said?
I heard its moo and oink but nothing
I closed my eyes
I opened my eyes. I blinked. I stared

BANG, the attack door closed and it was gone, was it all a scary dream?

I opened my eyes. Walked down stairs. Ate Co-Co pops and it was like it never happened
But did it?

I watched the news there was a report of a Hullabaloo
Did I see a Hullabaloo?
